DIY and Essentials

In todays post I have my essential oils collection & a couple of DIY beauty recipes. This isn't my entire collection, just the ones I use the most. I'm sorry that the picture quality isn't good, but it's a visual of what I'm working with currently. I think it's important if you are starting your own collection that you find brands in your budget, & that are available to you. So that being said I will jump right in!

Essential Oil Collection

*From Left to Right*
(Now Solutions Avocado, Home Health Castor, Now Solutions Jojoba, Radha Lavender, Radha Argan, Now Essential Oils Rosemary, PlantLife Sweet Almond, & Elemental Herbs All Good organic Coconut oil in the scent Lavender)

*From Left to Right*
(Now Essential Oils Grapefruit, Now Solutions Jasmine, Natures Answer Green Tea extract, Health Foods Unlimited Licorice extract & Cedarwood oil, Green Health Bergamot, Aura Cacia in Lemon, Peppermint, Sandalwood, & Ginger, Basic Vitamins Vitamin E oil, & Simplers Botanicals Clear Skin blend)

I added two extracts in here because I use them in a beauty recipe. I have accumulated a variety of different brands from different sources. I haven't been organic for that long so I am still finding quality essential oil brands that I will purchase from in the future.  For now I'm making my way through this mixture! Of course I have heard of Young Living EO & DoTerra EO.

When I started out I went with whatever my local health stores had. I was gifted some of these by family & friends. I tried to approach my new obsession as "budget friendly" as possible.  Now that I'm more comfortable using them I know what I will repurchase for a higher quality.
The company & quality of your EO is important because you want the most bang for your buck. The process of making, & the potency of the oils allows you to experience all the benefits. I'm not an expert so for more information about quality EO and uses, you can check out Young Living's EO guide tab on their website. Link is above!

I would recommend trying the cheaper options first to discover what would be worth spending more money on in the future. I use my EO for aromatherapy and beauty. I haven't tried using them for dietary purposes yet but maybe in the future I will give that a go. I really enjoy these brands:

(Calia Five Thieves blend, Nature Love Sleep, De-Stress, Headache blend)

I thought it would be nice to add my blends into this collection. I use at least one of these everyday! Five Thieves mixed into your lotion is great for sore muscles, & it never hurts to have my Headache blend on me at all times. One night my friend got a headache on the way to a concert so I had her use it on her pulse points & temples. By the time we got to the venue her headache was gone and she was impressed with my little oil blend!

DIY Beauty

You can find a ton of DIY beauty recipes everywhere. After trial and error you will find what works best for you. Not all of the DIY's that I have made have been winners. Keep searching & tweak some recipes for your taste. I only have a few simple recipes to share today because I love trying new products! When I run out of something, the search for a new brand & product to try is thrilling. But I do enjoy making my own products & use some of these everyday.

Lavender & Rosemary Body Scrub
1 1/2 Cups Sugar (white, brown, or cane)
1/4 Cup carrier oil (olive, coconut, avocado)
5-8 drops Lavender EO
5-8 drops Rosemary EO
(Makes up to 5 jars. Adjust for smaller batch)
*For this particular recipe I use my Elemental Herbs All Good Coconut oil in Lavender scent and then add my Now Essential Oils in Rosemary. You could use whatever scent you enjoy the most. This is a great gift too.

Roller Ball Eye Serum
Fill 2/3 of roller ball with a carrier oil (sweet almond, avocado)
5 drops Green Tea extract
5 drops Licorice extract
10 drops Lavender EO
10 drops Lemon EO
10 drops Vitamin E oil
*This recipe took a while to tweak to my liking. Green tea extract is for puffiness, the licorice extract is for hyper-pigmintation, & the lemon is for brightening. I found a lot of different eye serum recipes and sort of combined them. This may not work for you so adjust it accordingly.

Roller Ball Eyebrow Growth Serum
Fill 2/3 of roller ball with Castor oil
 5 drops Lavender EO
    5 drops Cedarwood EO
 5 drops Rosemary EO
5 drops Vitamin E oil
*I also tweaked this recipe for myself. I had an unfortunate plucking incident when I was 12 + really light, fine eyebrow hair= NO BROWS. This recipe has helped grow back part of my eyebrows!

Honey Facial Cleanser
1/3 Cup Castile Soap (or vegetable glycerin)
1/3 Cup Raw Honey
3 Tablespoons Distilled water
2 Tablespoons Avocado oil
*I no longer make this cleanser but will be trying it with the vegetable glycerin one day. I felt that the castile soap was too harsh for my dry-sensitive skin. I didn't have a reaction because the raw honey is very moisturizing but I have been cutting back on harsh soaps on my face.

I hope that you have enjoyed this post and found it useful! What are your favorite brands or EO that you use? I'm always on the hunt for new information or experiences from other organic junkies like me. Stay tuned for more nerdy post!
