Minimalistic Gift Guide
As the holidays approach it tends to be about consumerism, sales, wish lists, and loved ones. Once I discovered minimalism I thought about how my wish list would change. If you have a minimalist on your list you might be thinking about what you could get them? So I thought I would make a guide to help you out!
I have gotten rid of many a gift in the past when I became a minimalist. You may think that that sounds terrible but hear me out. The purpose of a gift is to bring joy to the person you're giving it to. If that gift no longer brings them joy it doesn't have a purpose & it's just taking up space. That's how I look at it! So let's take a look at some things that you could get for that minimalist in your life.
Gift Cards. You either love them or hate them. I personally love them! My boyfriend however, thinks that they aren't special. I love them because I'm a broke college student! If I can use that card to get gas, food, or pay bills I think it's a great gift. Even before I became a minimalist I preferred practicality. Or get them a card to their favorite movie theater, or retail store.
Experiences. Pay for an experience, or a memory! This kind of goes hand in hand with gift cards. A restaurant card can buy you a nice date night experience. Another example is tickets to a destination, or fun activity that they have been wanting to do. On my birthday, instead of receiving material gifts, my boyfriend & I went on vacation. For my actual birth day we went to a Mega Cavern, an art museum, & dinner out! I know that those types of gifts tend to be more expensive but I think they are worth it. Some of my best memories are from experience gifts. You can always budget or save up for something particular.
Needs or Daily usage. Again this could mean gift cards for food, or gas. Unless they ask for something specific, like new socks. The necessities in life can add up & I believe that every penny saved helps. Maybe the minimalist in your life needs new light fixtures for their place? See which one they have been eyeing & maybe go halves-ies!
Digital. Some minimalists go digital with their pictures and books. If they already have a nook or reading device you could get them books or magazine they want. Make a slideshow of their pictures as a digital photo album that they can cherish forever.
Donate & Charity work. Maybe they don't want you to get them anything! No gift cards, no trips, no experiences. They might want you to donate to a cause they care about or volunteer together. It doesn't take up space, & it'll make you both feel great.

United By Blue is an awesome company that organizes clean-ups for oceans & waterways around the U.S. For every product sold, they will remove a pound of trash. If you can't be apart of a clean-up, support the company!

You can donate money or toys for kids in need. I have fond memories of opening toys on christmas morning & you can give a memory like that to a child.

Pencils of Promise gives the gift of education. I donated to PoP this year because I believe in the power of education. I know everyone complains about school but there are kids out there that want to learn but can't! I've been blessed with a good education & I wanted to bless others.

I have purchased jewelry from Article 22 & I love it! You help clear the land of undetonated bombs,& local artisans receive a fair wage. If you have a nickel allergy like I do, don't worry because the products are nickel free!
