Holiday Stress Relief
This post is all about de-stressing, enjoying yourself, & relaxing. The holidays are upon us! Everyone can get a little on edge this time of year. People are rude, traffic is horrible, the weather is awful & everyone is broke. Personally, I love the holidays! I enjoy spending time with family & friends, eating turkey, giving gifts, & celebrating Jesus' birthday, but I too need to chill. So today I will
show you how I do that by sharing the things I love.
The #1 thing I do to de-stress is yoga. I know a lot of people generally say that, but it does work for me. I'm a self taught yogi for almost 3 years which basically means I'm terrible at it! I would love to try a class one day but for now I learn the poses or watch youtube videos. It's also amazing for my back. After a good bible study I put on some music and get stretching!
The next thing I like to do goes hand in hand with my yoga, and that is light incense or candles. You can actually smell it on my clothes, thats how much incense I burn. I purchase mine from Health Foods Unlimited or festivals. Sometimes I mix it up or I burn the same scent until I run out. Below is my collection!

Staying with the scents theme, I enjoy aromatherapy for relaxation as well. Aromatherapy (medical-dictonary defined): "therapeutic use of plant-derived, aromatic essential oils to promote physical and psychological well-being."
It's how I discovered the organic community which changed my whole world. So along with burning incense, & lighting candles, it's just another way to relax.
Diffuser Blends
Left to Right: Now Essential oil Cheer Up Buttercup, Aura Cacia Pillow Potion, Aura Cacia Purify, Calia Five Thieves, Vitality Extracts Immuntity
You don't have to purchase the blends because you could make your own but they are convenient. I use Immunity, Purify, or Five Thieves a lot when I'm sick or you can use them in a DIY home disinfectant cleaner.
Pillow potion can be used while you're in bed with a good book & it'll help you sleep.
Five thieves is mostly used on my back, shoulders, and feet. I have a very physical job so it comes in handy for aches & pains.
I like to use my car diffuser during the winter because you can put it on humidifier mode for moisture in the air. Cheer Up Buttercup is good for winter blues, or Immunity for a disinfectant!
Personally I would shop around for a company you love & trust to see if you like their blends. I highly recommend Calia because they have a nice selection with great prices!

Topical Blends
Left to Right: Pun'kin the air plant, Vitality Extracts Energy roll-on, Salt rock candle holder, Nature Love Headache, Sleep, De-stress, Vitality Extracts Deep Muscle roll-on, Susan the succulant
By topical blends I mean they can be used on the skin because they are in a carrier oil. These blends are self explanatory. I use the Energy roll-on for a pick me up because I'm not a caffeine gal. This Deep Muscle roll-on is great for travel because I don't have to mix it with lotion like Five Thieves. I use Headache on my temples & wrists with an ice pack on my neck to avoid taking pain relief medication. Sleep is the topical version of Pillow Potion. De-stress is the one that you combine with a bible study, yoga session, good book & killer cup o' tea after a long day!
Jewelry Blends
Left to Right: Aviano Botanicals Dreamy Sleep, Breathe Again, Health Guard, Mellow Mind, Tropical Island, & Romantic Paradise
These blends came specifically with this necklace, which also came with cotton pads to go into the locket. You simply put 1-3 drops onto a pad & enjoy. It's aromatherapy perfume in a cool jewelry piece. You can use these blends in a diffuser or topically when mixed with carrier oil. The pads can be washed & reused but you can purchase new pads anywhere they sell the necklaces. I like to wear Health Guard, Breathe Again, or Mellow Mind at work. For a dinner date I wear Tropical Island or Romantic Paradise!
Artfully De-stress
I like to use these coloring books when I feel stressed because it gives my mind something to focus on. It's relaxing & you get an awesome art piece out of it if you frame it! I love Japanese art & animals so these two books have great pages to color. If you aren't an artsy person, a mad lib or crossword might be your thing.
I like to read a good book to relax as well. Reading can take you to places you'll never go & meet characters that you can relate to. I also have a lot of plants in these pictures because I enjoy having nature in my room. I don't have a green thumb but so far I've only killed one succulent (RIP Steve). But Phil the succulent isn't looking so good either...
Anyway that's my turtle with my most recent plant & some cone incense! I also have a salt rock candle holder because when you warm it up it ionizes your room.

When I wake up I open my curtains to enjoy the sunlight in my room & I love my vine curtain. It makes me happy. Surround yourself with things that make you happy. If you have an environment that you love you'll feel less stressed.
In closing, those are my tips for relaxation. What do you like to do to chill? Do you have any EO blends you can't live without? Do you have any traditional holiday de-stressing tips?
Stay tuned for more nerdy-ness.
