Black Friday Unboxing

Image
What is a minimalist doing making a post about black friday shopping! I know, it's a scandal.  I have been waiting all year to purchase some of these items & I won't have you ruining that! All joking aside people I have an unboxing for you.  I have done my time researching, & patiently waiting to strike. As a minimalist I don't enjoy clutter or a ton of products, but as an organic beauty enthusiast I enjoy testing out new stuff. In conclusion I made some purchases during the Black Friday weekend via online. No shopping in person for me on Black Friday! Since I work at a second-hand retail store I was unavailable for shopping that day. I tried to contain myself to be reasonable whilst shopping! Trial sizes & just smaller sized products in general were my targets. I have some goodies to share with you & I hope you enjoy! Minimalistic Gift Guide

As the holidays approach it tends to be about consumerism, sales, wish lists, and loved ones. Once I discovered minimalism I thought about how my wish list would change. If you have a minimalist on your list you might be thinking about what you could get them? So I thought I would make a guide to help you out!  I have gotten rid of many a gift in the past when I became a minimalist. You may think that that sounds terrible but hear me out. The purpose of a gift is to bring joy to the person you're giving it to. If that gift no longer brings them joy it doesn't have a purpose & it's just taking up space. That's how I look at it! So let's take a look at some things that you could get for that minimalist in your life.  Gift Cards.  You either love them or hate them. I personally love them! My boyfriend however, thinks that they aren't special. I love them because I'm a broke college student! If I can use that card to get gas, food,...

Holiday Stress Relief

Image
This post is all about de-stressing, enjoying yourself, & relaxing. The holidays are upon us! Everyone can get a little on edge this time of year. People are rude, traffic is horrible, the weather is awful & everyone is broke. Personally, I love the holidays! I enjoy spending time with family & friends, eating turkey, giving gifts, & celebrating Jesus' birthday, but I too need to chill. So today I will  show you how I do that by sharing the things I love.  The #1 thing I do to de-stress is yoga. I know a lot of people generally say that, but it does work for me. I'm a self taught yogi for almost 3 years which basically means I'm terrible at it! I would love to try a class one day but for now I learn the poses or watch youtube videos. It's also amazing for my back. After a good bible study I put on some music and get stretching! The next thing I like to do goes hand in hand with my yoga, and that is light incense or candles. You can actually smell i...

Hair Care

Image
Today I'm going to share my hair care routine! Switching to organic hair products was really beneficial for me since I used to use heat everyday, & dye it at the salon. It was dry, dull, & brittle until I found a proper routine.  My hair is straight, & fine. Currently I don't use heat, dye it, or ever wear it down.  Around the time of my organic switch I decided I wanted to grow my hair out. I started watching hair care videos, & reading blogs about growing long healthy hair. I didn't want to just switch to an organic shampoo & call it a day. I wanted to change the health of my hair! I watched a lot, & I read a lot, but there is one person I do recommend checking out. Sarah from holistichabits on Youtube inspired me the most about healthy organic living! I tried everything she suggested & love how my hair is now. Link to her channel below! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX7hbrZOkAQX7ugsX-5M0rQ Shampoo & Conditioner ...

Makeup Collection

Image
I'm really excited for this makeup collection post because I've waited so long to make it! In the beginning of 2017 I decided to start this blog, as well as switching over my makeup. I have my full  collection to share with you, swatches & all! I thought I would talk a little bit about my makeup history & then jump right into my current items. Ta-DA! My old makeup collection...all packed with nasty chemicals. However I'm not here to bash the brands that I used. As you can see I had a ton of makeup. One late night in January I took it all out & went through it, hence the bad photo. I don't recommend the dramatic method that I used, but I needed that big push to get me started. I threw out the old items that I couldn't give away. My family, friends, and colleagues took the rest of it. I couldn't go through 6 bronzers before switching to an organic one! I kept the bare minimum amount to do a lazy everyday look until I bought organic replacement...

My Skincare Routine

Image
The story continues with my skincare routine! Although the first step I took in transitioning my products was actually my shampoo & conditioner, it's not really an interesting story. The next thing I did was start the hunt for replacement skincare. Since this was over two years ago & I was in my early twenties, I knew it would be important to switch into a comfortable routine. In todays post I'm going to talk a little bit about my skin & then discuss my current routine & products. I have never had "bad" skin. My family has passed down some good skin genes! Right about now you probably hate me depending on your skin experience so I'm sorry. No ones skin is perfect though, so this is my story. When I was younger I  didn't wear sunblock, I only needed zit cream occasionally, and I took my makeup off with wipes. I learned about skincare from magazines & youtube videos when I was 18. My first toner was actually a bright blue drugstore astri...

I'm sorry that the picture quality isn't good, but it's a visual of what I'm working with currently.
